    Hi all,

I went to start my car today for the first time in a week after all this snow and my dad noticed a whirring sound coming from the area of the timing belt/power steering pump.

You can only really notice this when it is idling. I turned the steering wheel slowly to full lock left and right and it did improve very slightly but there is still a whirring sound there which I have posted a link to on youtube to help out.

After this I checked the power steering fluid level, which was at a sufficient level according to the haynes manual (just below 'C' on the dipstick). It also had no air bubbles in it.

I have only really noticed it today when he pointed it out so I have no idea how long its been like that, can't hear it from inside the car.
New cambelt fitted about 18 months ago as well.

He said it could be bearings in the pump itself?

    Any ideas anyone?
