Reverse gear selection

    Greetings
    I am having difficulties trying to work out why I can not select reverse gear easily every time. It does not engage at all now.
    This has been getting worse over time.
    The top and bottom mounts have been changed. Now nothing. The gear stick appears to have move back from its original position from years back.
    Suggestions please.
    I think I will have to take the selector box on the tunnel out.

    What car is it. It’s all very well saying that you’re having difficulties trying to work out why you cannot select reverse gear. What’s the make and model of the car. Each car is different.
