Certainly on the 306 and 406, but probably most others.

Jack up and support the car and remove wheel.

    Disconnect bottom ball joint.

Remove inner boot large clip. I also removed the sway bar link from the strut, but I don’t think it was necessary.

Swing hub assembly rearwards, pulling the inner joint out of its socket.

Remove circlip holding on the three legged bearings structure, and slide the bearings off the spline. Caution, some early models don’t seem to have the three bearings clipped in, you don’t want them to fall off.

Remove inner boot, and/or outer boot. Replace boots. Replace bearing structure, it may need a tap to push it on far enough to -

    Replace circlip.

In the hub of the inner joint there is a cap and spring, which sits on the end of the shaft. When you took the shaft out, this flopped down. Relocate it in the end of the hub (it sits in a recess) and support the outer, shaft end on a mound of grease centrally in the hub.

Slide the shaft back into the inner joint hub, wrestle the lower ball joint back on and ensure that the hub rotates smoothly, indicating that you mated the shaft to the spring correctly.

Bolt up the ball joint, put the wheel back on.
