My car decides to overheat when stationary for to long. I have replaced the relay and the resistor but this doesn't seem to help.

The actual fan on the radiator doesn't work, we had it connected to the battery for a while with some electrical cable. But this wasn't productive as in order to get the fan to spin we would have to stop the car, pop the bonnet and then attach the cable to the battery.

Can anyone advise me on this?
