    Hello

I just joined this forum, already read what was written about speedometers, partially useful, however I stil can't identify what's wrong with my speedometer.

I have a peugeot 206 1.1 year model 2000, works ok, a couple of days ago the speedometer stopped working, it remained on zero, rarely rose to about 30 km/h, then the needle drops to zero or even touches the bottom of the speedometer housing.

It only has three needless, gasoline level, current speed and temperature, only speed doesn't work. The digital mileage counter seems to work fine, so I reckon it's not the sensor fault.
I did put the transparent "glass" off and tried moving the needle with my finger, it felt loose til 40-50km/h, then you could feel something something blocking the movement of the needle.

It is my guess that the teeth on plastic reels might be broken, however not sure if they are in a speedometer or maybe even reels by the sensor (if I remember reading that correctly).

I would greatly appreciate some feedback on what could be the cause of this problem, as theoretically replacing the whole speedometer (which is quite hard to find) or sensor might NOT solve the problem, as I am not familiar with how exactly these things work.
I just need to know, what exactly needs replacing.
Thank you for any useful ideas or insights.
    Cheers

I've replaced the whole speedometer as I managed to find one online through third party and it works ok now.

When I'll have time, I'll take the old one apart, to see what went wrong, if it's just something lose and not anything actually broken inside, I can sell it or keep it as a substitute.
