    this light is flashing constently.
a while ago it would only apparently flash after it rained, i therefore
felt it was a moisture thing, however... any isea on how to go about
    fixing the fault?

    cheers in advance

You really need to get it on a Diag machine and find out which part is
causing the light to flash. Could be the steering wheel module, the
airbag itself (drivers or passenger) the ECU, the connectors under the
seats for the seat belt triggers or the side airbags if fitted, or the
    wiring somewhere.
The usual fault is the connectors under the seat, and you can
SOMETIMES prove this by disconnecting them one by one, with the
ignition off, then reconnect it, switch on the ignition and see if the
light still flashes. If so, the connectors need to be cut out and the
wires soldered back together, or get some Raychem heat shrink
connectors which will solder them for you when you apply heat (safest
    with a hot air gun).

no nigel the raychem connectors are just crimps the outer sleeve shrinks
you are thinking of the connectors used for the 306 wiring harness recalls
which had solder inside which melted when heated
having said that i personally think raychem connectors are very reliable

As you would have found if you had searched the group, the fix is to
solder the connections under the seat. The people who service your 406
will know about this fix and it seems to solve the problem in most
    cases - certainly in mine.

    also
on the 406 sometimes if the wiring is a bit tight and you slide the seat all
the way back the connector pops off the pretensioner

Sorry Jeff. Yes you're right. God, we had fun doing those 306 recalls.
    Seemed to go on forever!
I agree that the raychems are reliable and a lot easier than trying to
solder bare wires together under the seat!

not really a prob cos i'm good with a soldering iron(use a gascat though)
myself but there was never much room was there
as to the recall you always knew that you were gonna replace all of the
wires didnt you plus you knew that further down the line the bumper was
coming off again when the fan connection plug melted

i too am handy with a soldering iron. i had no idea that there a wires
under the seats, DOOH! would not breaking and making connections i.e.
cleaning the contact surfaces suffice or am i completly off track here?

either way, looking at these wires would be a sensible first option before
going to the local service centre which has not a good rep.

thanks very much for advice, any further help is welcome.

I also have an intermittent problem with the airbag warning light, usually
happens after someone has adjusted the passenger seat. In the past I've
managed to cure it by wiggling the wires under the seat a little but would
love to know exactly how to fix the problem once and for all. A dummy's
guide would be very useful. Or point me in the direction of a website with a
    step by step maybe?

    Thanks

broke and made connections under both seats and guess what... no flashing
    warning light. thanks guys.
should the problem re-occur and soldering is the best option i take it
that you simply cut the wires (one connection at a time), bare the ends
and clean, twist together and drop a bit of solder on to make the join.
to finish insulate the bare wires as appropriate.
    thanks again for the fix.

  14. Ditto, there are all the motorised seat adjusters plus seat heaters under
there as well. How many wires are there in the plug/socket and what colours
    please.

All the wires to the seat and then on to the side air bag and the belt
buckle are orange sleeved. The wires inside are usually blue and brown
but they can be both yellow. So yes do one connector at at time, but
also make sure the coloured wires are reconnected the same way.

sorry about that, under my each seat i found a yellow connector, with a
white wire and a yellow/green wire.
next is a blue connector with two wires both coloured orange/yellow. then
a black connector with a grey wire and a yellow/green wire. lastly there
is another black connector with two wires coloured orange/yellow.
i breaked n maked each in turn, i don't know which action did the trick.
    hope this helps.
