Is my poor little car dying?

    Hi there. New peugeout owner. Bought a 207 1.6 diesel (2008) for super cheap. Not in good condition but only intended to keep it for 3 weeks while awaiting my new car... new car not coming now so I decided to get 'peggy' serviced. She was running OK (bit smoky on start up but the garage put some redex (?) Through and was making a difference) last night started smelling smoke and engine starting making a nasty ticking sound Garages around here are booked up for weeks and the school run beckons... anyone got any ideas what it could be? If it's not fixable I might need to start looking for cars today thanks for reading
