how to set up engine timing

  1. i have a peugeot 405 gl 1.6 on a l reg. i need verification on setting
    up the engine timing. can you help.

    1,3,4,2,time up top with bottom pulley notch. if i remenber its 10*
    before top dead center,or if your having problems look into a hayes
    book, try and do what i did once went to halfords and had a look then
    put it back.hahaha

  3. hi i got it the camshaft pulley gets pinned at about 8 oclock on the
    pulley and the crankshaft pulley at about ten oclock................
    not tdc.

    camshaft is about 12oclock u should have a dot or something on there to
    let you know to line it up with a mark some place on the cover,remove
    the spark plug number one and time it up the old way .

    Hi,
    Nope, as XUs tend to be timed half-way between top and bottom dead centres
    (all pistons on the same level).
