Then engine was changed, i think its the mechanical pump type ,because
I couldnt find the ecu , normally located in the engine bay. The
engine management light do not come on the dash board and nor does it
    weven turn over.

But the key is a transponder key.
I was told buy a friend of mine that the alarm relay may be missing,
phone up peugeot they dont seem to know what it is .

    ay help appreciated

Dont know If anyones experienced this
    I changed the engine on a pug 306 1.9D T reg 1999
    its got a transponder key
Nows the engines back in I dont seem to get any engine management
    lights
I get the normal indicators lights etc.
The engine wont even turn over . Has it got anything to do with the
ecu being locked or something ?
    Any help

Have you changed just the engine block or have you changed the ecu as
    well?

Are all the plugs attached? Does the 306 have the same plugs behind
the passenger side headlight as the 405? There is one big round plug
and a single spade. This is the connection to the starter as I
discovered recently after changing a 405td. Does the engine have an
ecu or is it the traditional mechanical fuel pump?

    Hello,
Sometimes, the ignition barrel (including steal-lock) suffers from heavy
currents needed by starter. It's common on heavy mileage 205s. Report to the
group's archive, it was discussed at least 20 times.

The cars only done 40k miles.
I was wondering if the relays are put in wrong under the dash would it
stop the engine from even turning over !!!

    Hello,
Perhaps. I can't give an answer, I've got no certitude about that...
Indeed, automotive relays have a pinout that makes it impossible to put them
the wrong way. IIRC (I don't want to remove one of my car's relays), the
    pinout is like that :

    | --
    | |
    | --
Where there are one supply, two contacts two positions (DPDT).
Please guys, correct me if I'm wrong !
My point was, the (generic) relay coil has no polarity, but automotive
relays could be different (like, why not, a diode in series with the coil (I
    can't imagine why)).
A badly plugged relay could be a source of problems (no contact), as well as
    a burnt relay.
