cooling fans

    can anybody tell me why my cooling fans keep coming on frequently even in this freezing weather. this is only a resent problem. and the temperature guage is displaying normal temp

    I guess it could be a circulation problem. Or the sensor for the
    cooling fans, or the sensor for the coolant temperature is faulty.
    Could be many things. Of course if you are sat around in queuing
    traffic it is possible that the cooling fans are still required, even
    in this cold weather.

    thanks stuart. i think i will go with the sensor rout first. you would'nt happen to know were abouts they are situated on the engine? ta! phil.

    My Haynes manual says it's "located on most models in the left-hand
    side of the radiator. On models with air conditioning, the cooling
    fans are controlled by the "Bitron" sensor." I think by left-hand side
    they mean when looking at the radiator from the driver's seat. From
    the wiring diagram it says the connector to the cooling fan switch
    will be coloured blue.

    From experience, the only sensor on the left-hand side (when looking
    from the front of the car) is the low-coolant sensor.

    Have you checked the coolant level? Could be low...
