    Good afternoon all.

I have just bought a 1999 Vreg 406 2.0 HDI estate. Everything seems fine
except the aircon pump mag clutch does not operate. The pump is a Delphi
    according to the belt sizes.

Can anybody suggest a most likely reason that the pump is not working.

My wife also has the same car and I recently had the aircon system vacced
down and replenished with the correct amount of gas because the system did
not seem to be performing very well compared to an earlier 406 of mine. The
system needed about 200g of gas adding on top of the gas that was evacuated
and cleaned of air impurities. After that the system performed better but
the guy said that according to the guages the pump was not "sucking" as well
as ot could and not "blowing" as well either.

Do the guage readings signify a faulty pump or could it be the dryer at
fault causing a partial blockage in the system and preventing a proper flow
    of the gasses.

I hope someone can help with these problems.

    Cheers.

    Jerry Smith.
