Anyone know if i can get away with 185's on standard rims? or maybe even 195's?

Seen the tyres i want but im not paying the price for 175's when 185's are some £10-15 per tyre cheaper and 195's are only £5 more than the 175's.

Thanks.

Hello,

Anyone know if i can get away with 185's on standard rims? or maybe even
195's?
Of course... But you don't mention the width/heigth ratio of tyres. For example, petrol 405s (at least Mk1 SR/SRi) used to run on 185-65-14.

Hi,

185's are no problem. The 405 TD has original 185's and the rims are the same... I don t know about 195's...but i wouldn t suggest it !

Can I fit 165/70 R14 to a diesel 405.
I have 175/70 R14 fitted at present. I know that it is ok on a petrol model but is there a weight issue with the diesel engine. Not a clue myself, but welcome opinions

Should have added that the tyres are on correct size wheels - the 165/70 R14's are on one car. The 175/70 R14's on another (car that is)

The 185/65R14 are standard on some model 405s - my daughter's car has them.

However, you really need to know the rim width before changing to a bigger tyre. Are those cars with smaller tyres fitted with the same rim as those with the 185 tyre?
