    Hi Group,

Wondering if someone can assist. I am looking at buying a 1998 406 STDT
Diesel Wagon. They are rare as hens teeth 2nd hand in South Australia,
and have had it checked out by the local AAA other than the dealer.

The AAA's mechanics report on it says that there is ....severe carbon (
and some oil) build up in the inlet manifold/inlet track... and is
classed as a serious problem. However the dealer informs me that this is
not a major issue and that the AAA is not familiar with the Peugeots.
The problem is that there is only one licenced service location in S Aus
for Peugeots and that is the dealers, and hence I can not get a reliable
    opinion.

I am trying to get an understanding of what is typical in these cars,
and if it is a peculiarity before embarking on my investment.

Any suggestions or comments are much appreciated.

    Regards Anthony
