Hello all, new on the forum here!

I have a 407 v6 which I believe to be suffering from a jumped timing belt.. (poor running, all sorts of codes on diagbox, noticeable slack in the belt..)

Bought the belt kit, the tool kit and found the instructions on servicebox..

I am new to the experience of a jumped belt, and have only changef belts on straight 4's before so this is quite a job for me..

I cannot line up all the cams and the crankshaft to set all the locking pins at the same time, but if the belt has jumped a tooth or two then that probably explains that, but then comes my question:

What is the correct procedure if the timing between cams and crank is out? Do you simply removecthe old belt before locking the cams?

    Thanks in advance!
