sorry to say new camshaft, or you might be able to just replace the
shims.its a lot of messing about just doing the shims.

    Hi Chris
    thanks for your advice
Just had someone email me and say that it's the hdi engine that ahs to
have the cam removed but the 2.1 have valve ajusters. Oh well it was
    worth a thought.
was hoping that they could just be ajusted. but hey ho it's never that
    easy.

knock when first started from cold but goes away when warms up, suspect
valve clearance I was told in this forum.ajust the valves I was also
    told?
    any adive would be apreciated

  10. But a 100E would be on at least its fourth or fifth engine by now and the
body would be as rusty as hell ;o)

possible but my 100e's running on arriginal engine and body work is
spot on wich ain't bad for the estate model!! they used to rust like
billyo hence why there so rare. but hey ho "rock n roll"

  12. What model is it (Anglia/Prefect/Popular)? The estates as I remember were
pretty rare and on consideration I am pretty sure there wasn't a Popular
version. Now the memory is starting to kick back in, wasn't the estate a
model in its own right, the Escort? I had the earlier Popular saloon E93A
commonly known as the "sit up and beg" model.
