  1. At the risk of sending old timers on the site round the twist
    again...Model: 406 Executive Estate DT 2088 CC Registered 12 January 1998.
Multi Function Display just below central air vents----Bulbs or Leds??..and
can the unit be eased out with the all purpose screwdriver safely to
    check?

Top engine now knows its done 129K! Tappets -adjustable or not?

Many thanks folks for your patience

Definitely bulbs and the display eases out, yes. May be easier with
the removal of the adjacent switch. It is the Mark 1 406?? Or is it
the Mark 2 with no switches next to the display. In which case there
are two blanks either side of the display which hook out, and you'll
see 4 Torx 20 screws holding the display in. Either way it is bulbs.
Just check that the bulbs come out of the holder. Sometimes they are
integral with the holder and you need the complete thing. Part number
is 611260 and you need 2 for the Mark 1 and 3 for the Mark 2.

As for the tappets. If you mean the 2.1 diesel with 12 valves then
they are hydraulic. The 1.9 has shims.

And as a follow on, the ones that Halfords sell don't fit in my 1998
model. They look similar but project too far out at the back.
Pug/Citroen ones are a tad more expensive but of course they do fit.

  4. Not always the last bulbs I bought from Peugeot were the long ones that
    don't fit so be warned.

If you quote that part number they will fit. I have done them before
    and have had no problem.
