    Hello all.

Excuse my ignorance, as I have very little mechanical knowledge.

I have been told that I need to get a pair of handbrake backplates (as they
have corroded), along with other items for the retest on my 1999 406 v6. I
have found all the other items (cable, discs, pads, shoes) except the
backplates. I can't seem to find a reference for them anywhere.

Apparently, the rear discs/drums fix on to the backplates (which I presume
is attached to the rear axle). Could someone provide the proper name for
these things, part no. and where I can get them please? Is this a dealer
    only part?

Thanks in advance for your contributions.

It's a backplate. Always has been, always will be. What is there not to
    understand?

I would not expect 3rd party motor factors to be able to supply back
plates. Must be a very limited market for them.
Try a dealer for new parts or a breakers yard for used ones.
