406 HDI 90 Estate (Rapier): central locking but not remote:
driver's door lock barrel just rotates when trying to lock/unlock with
key: won't engage. Is this a common problem? Any ideas, or does it need
    new lock?

Ta - but locks have been used all the time, as it's not
remote. Anyway, I'll try the oil.

  4. Hi Gobbo

The lock barrel is connected to the door lock with a pin. The pin is held in
position with plastic clips, which allow the movement necessary to
    lock/unlock the door.
If the pin slides out of the plastic clip, the results are exactly as you
    describe.

Thanks for all your advice - really appreciated!
Tried the oil & the lock is functioning beautifully again -
that's great (thanks 'Mindwipe' in particular!).

Ivar - are you up in Iceland?
