Changing the air filter might be a start.

Hi try some diesel engine injection cleaner: quote: Partially clogged fuel
injectors can cause engines to lose power, produce excessive smoke, and
experience a loss in fuel economy, Injector Cleaner is specially formulated
to remove deposits from the fuel system of diesel engines.
look for a good branded one , the one i use is forte i think thats how its
spelt, its not cheap but if you can find it use it,cost about £20 a bottle,
put whole bottle into fual tank with full tank of fual :), should sort it
    out .

    good luck

Take the air filter out and take it for a good thrasing. Get the engine
warm, leave the filter outtill the test is finished.

    Thanks gents
Ran some FOREX through the engine as an additive to the fuel and reduced the
emissions from 5.6 to 2.6 inside the required figure of 3.
As an aside the local dealer now recommends this is added as part of each
    service interval.
