    Hi,

I have a N reg 406 1.9TD. Recently the engine has been cutting out when the
revs have dropped below 1,000 - usually when I am breaking for a roundabout
or something. I have cured this by pulling up the throttle cable so the
tickover is above the 1,000 mark (about 1,400). However when I have been
running for a long period of time and I turn the engine off and then try to
restart it struggles to restart. I know the injection unit is playing up and
the Turbo doesnt kick in (if it does) until the 3,000 mark.

Any suggestions - do I need a new injection pump? If so where can I get hold
of one and how much? Or any other ideas greatfully recieved.

    Cheers and thanks in advance
    Bazza

They didnt make a 406 on an N-Plate, unless you mean its a 405. 1400 rpm
for idle speed is far to high! Should only be 800. Could be injection
pump, or fauly injectors. Could also be air in the fuel system. Sounds
silly but have you checked the air filter and intake system isn't clogged.

Yes they did make 406 saloons on N reg, and the 405 estate went to P
reg. till the 406 estate came in.
