I suspect I have a fan gone and would like to locate the 3 relays that
control the two radiator fans. The Haynes manual for the 406 shows these in
the wiring diagram but gives no information on their location. The wiring
diagram also shows a test point between the fans when used in series
i.e. low speed) where is this located.

cooling fan relays should be located in the fan shroud or the side of the
radiator the test point is not far from them follow wire from LH cooling
    fan your find it

  3. I have now located the 3 fan control relays behind a cover, after you remove
the radiator grill. I thought the relays were used to provide either the
fans in series for slow speed or parallel for fast speed as per Haynes
manual. I am not so sure without a wiring diagram for the 406 1.9 TD GLX
with air con. I have put 12v across each relay coil and they all test OK
with about 1 Ohm contact resistance and the contacts change over as
required so no problems there. I also have 12 v at each of the fan relay c/o
contacts. I expected to test a resistance from the other c/o contact via the
fan to earth this however is not the case
1 are the fan motors normal brush DC motors?
My passenger fan only seems to work.
2 Can any one supply a wiring diagram or
3 confirm how these fans are supposed to work.
