    Hello

I know, it's an extremely stupid q but I never drove a Peugeot before,
bought an Estate for my 3 dogs yesterday (very cheap), no booklet included and I really
don't know how to open the engine compartement. I found something to
pull on the left side and a black opener outside. I pulled both but
    couldn't open anything.
    Any hints?

    Thank's a lot!

    Hi Jens,

Looks like you found the right thingies, these are what I use to open the
engine compartment of my 405 estate (LHD, though). The little handle near
the driver's left knee unlocks the bonnet (you should hear a click when
pulling it). You can then lift the bonnet just enough to pull the black
plastic latch @ the front towards you to free it completely (don't release
it!), after which you can open up. Probably a safety for accidentally
unlocking the front-opening bonnet while driving along, the wind might
blow it against your windscreen if the catch wasn't there.

    good luck!

I've a right hand drive, so the handle is on the left side. Anyway I
found it but, hum, I pulled it but didn't hear any click. Thank's a lot
anyway, I will try again and again... :)

    sometimes gets stuck
get someone inside to pull it while you bang on the bonnet when it pops up
lift the lever at the front and open

It may be it needs someone to lift the bonnet slightly while you pull
the handle. Of course you may have a broken release cable!!

On my daughter's 405 (RHD) the bonnet handle is a lever under the steering
    column, not near
the door where one would expect to find it.

The black handle inside the grille si the release for the safety catch. Pull
that after releasing the bonnet with the inside lever.

Bingo! My daughter was so kind and pulled the handle. Next page:
Where the heck can I refill oil? I found the stick immediatly but... ;-)
Thank's very much for a little help!

Judging from the smiley I think you know. But for those not in the
know, the typical pug dipstick goes through the filler cap that has
spring clips to hold it on.
