307sw starter motor

    Morning guys.
    Bit of a niggling question. Changed starter motor on a 2005, 307sw earlier in week. Question is does the aluminium flange fit between starter and engine or or on the starter. I.E engine, flange, starter OR engine, starter, flange.
    And does it make a difference.
    Any help appreciated
