    Hi,

I have changed the head unit in my 307sw for one which plays MP3s, and all
works fine, except for it doesn't turn off with the ignition. I can get out
of the car, lock it and walk away with the stereo playing, then, after
about 3 minutes, it powers down. The standard stereo simply turned off when
    the ignition was off.

It is not a major problem as it is a face off unit, so it encourages me to
remove the face when i leave the car, i just wondered if there was a reason
for this. I am aware that the standard stereo 'multiplexed', does this
    affect the ignition switch though?

the normal ISO connector in the 307 is not pinned out like the ISO
standard that aftermarket radio's use, so if it does bother you, you
have to get a adaptor plug at your dealer partnumber 9706.86

In multiplex 307, the radio/cd can be "manually" turn on even if the key is
out and auto switch off when it detect the key turn off. And to save energy,
power to it will cut off after 2min of idle, and back on when out of idle
(ie open door etc). The aftermarket headunit dont have this comunication
with the car to get the off signal when key turn off, another way is instead
of using that "blue" power wire, use the ciggarette power, it will turn off
    when key turn off.
If you have Sony HU, there are adapter which will solve this problem and
able to use the stalk + in built display.

Really? Could you please be more specific, which headunits have this
    feature?

    Thanks.

The one I put in mine is a kenwood. Autoleads have informed me that they
don't currently do an adater lead for the 307 to Kenwood head units... I
will have to live without the steering remote.

It support any SONY head unit which has Stacker control and the remote input
control... it will work with both in built display and the stalk behind the
    steering wheel.
Mine is a sony mp3 head unit... MP3 ID3 tag doesnt shown (everything else
shown fine even scrolling cd text), radio memory shown 1 at a time as you
scroll through it (not 6 menu like oem). beside from those 2 everything else
seem to be same as oem.

Model : DPGS003 to suit 307 multiplex (double check this to make sure). I
order one and it work great, a bit pricey convert UK to AU and postage cost
but well worth it, geting rid of the ugly OEM head unit and still retain the
    display and stalk control.
