took the car to the dealer for the AC to be repaired and they had to remove
the dash board to change the heat exchange box. Whilst there the also
'repaired' the brake compensator valve as it was 'sticking'

Since then the brakes feel strange. On hard braking the pedal doesn't pulse
anymore, the wheels have locked and the pedal and braking performance itself
feels strange. I used to have a definate biting point now it seems to be
wooly almost like when you first but on new pads and discs. Any ideas?

    BTW it's a 1998 306 19.9TD

Not from behind the dash. The ABS unit is in the engine compartment as
    is the ECU.

  3. Well, spongy brakes lacking bite is a typical sign of air in your brake
lines... I'd say maybe they didn't bleed them properly when they changed the
'brake compensator' - but I'm not 100% sure what that it is; it could just
be the compensator for the handbrake, in which case they shouldn't have
needed to mess with any of the hydraulic portions of the braking system.
Still, I'd bleed the brakes first - if only to rule it out as a possible
    problem.
