206 speedo

The speedo in my wife's 206 from time to time stops working. Unfortunately I
don't know for how long, either time or distance, as it has never displayed
this problem when I've driven the car. Any thoughts out there or remedies.
Incidentally the car is one of the first 1998 models, but the "taxi" has
only done 17k.

I had this one, it was due to a faulty earth. Two dealers failed to find it and
eventualy I took out the centre consul and bingo! the earth bolt had never been
fitted into the hole!, it was lying on top of the shiny air bag sensor casing.
Checked out on the diagnostic, but a different sory when bouncing over manhole
covers and cats eyes.
