206 radio issue

Discussion in 'Peugeot 206' started by hob nobber via CarKB.com, Apr 29, 2005.

  1. Hopefully someone can give me a few ideas here. I turned the key in my T-
reg (1999 I think) 206 GLX, and heard the radio kick in as the key turned.
Then the engine started and the radio\CD stopped, and will not turn on
since, although the Power switch on the radio is glowing orange, so power
is getting to it. The fuse on the back of the radio looks OK, as do the
fuses under the steering wheel, but I haven't tried changing any yet as i
do not have a handbook and do not know which fuse is the one i need to try
replacing. Flicking through the options on the dashboard display it now
says Radio: OUT and CDC: OUT. Any ideas which fuses I need to check, and
what else it might be if not fuses ?

It's powered thru two fuses - F22 all the time, and F24 via ignition
    switch.

  4. Thanks Joe, i'll check those fuses

Mindwipe, yes it does, it displays through the middle dashboard digital
display (so i can't really tell what kind of power is getting to the unit)

used to be an issue with the reset control on the displays
they upgarded to a newer one
but that was only under warranty
pull the display up(its only clipped in)
disconnect the display wait a few seconds and reconnect)
    then retry with the radio

  6. Mindwipe, thanks for the info on the display. Would this stop the radio
working completely though ? The display is working fine otherwise (i.e.
    date, temparature etc)

the issue with the display is that it trips out on the radio display side so
    the radio wont work
all that happens when its been disconnected is that the radio works again
you may have to reset the time again though

  8. Hi Mindwipe, thanks a lot for your advice. Unplugging the display appears
to have done the trick, although I now have the radio asking for the
keycode, so i assume all will be ok once i have found the code.
