205 door lock jammed

    Hi -

I have a 1993 205 GTX, central locking, and the OS rear door has jammed
shut. I've taken the lining off, and access to the lock is extremely
ltd. When I operate the central locking, all the right things seem to
move, but the door just doesn't open. The lock button (the sticky-up
thing) moves a little, but may not be moving fully. Any hints on how to
fix it, or clues as to where I might find a decent diagram - without
being able to access the lock direct, it's hard to work out what's going on.

I did consider trying to take the door off by removing the hinges, but
there is a little door-stay lever thingy that also has to be removed to
enable this, and access to that is also tricky. Hey ho.

    Over to y'all

Ah - thanks. Is the idea to reach up inside the door and try to pull the
button down manually? (I'll try it when it gets light!)

On models without central locking there's a linkage inside the door
near/below the button which doesn't always return (downwards) properly.
You can reach it with the door trim off but it's fiddly.

The problem I had with the 205 was the outside handle, the one you lift to
open the door, seized up, and did not return fully, which in turn prevented
    the door from locking.
Solution was to take handle off, and get some oil into lever pivot. Then
    apply plasters to scratched hands.

Thanks (esp for the health care advice...) How does one remove the handle?

Sort of - that's not a bad way of thinking where to get your hand (at
least on the one I had) but there's some leverage in there so the effect
isn't the same. In the front passenger door of our 205 the lock stopped
returning and I had to add a spring (attached with coat-hanger wire!)

Take the inner panel off and you will see a nut at either end of the handle.
And watch the little tie rods.
